From a journal prompt, “If I were in charge of the world…” “I would make it peaceful. Make balance and love. And make all things work.” -Primary student
Made for Mosier
Our 6th annual Made for Mosier Benefit Auction will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Springhouse Cellar in Hood River.
This event Is our largest fundraiser of the year. It features art pieces created by our students in association with local resident artists. To supplement the student art we also offer a dinner, entertainment, and other items in our silent and live auction.
This year our educational focus is to ensure funding remains in place for the benefit of STEAM and hands-on education at Mosier Schools. What is STEAM Education? STEAM = Science and Technology interpreted through Engineering and the Arts, all based in Mathematical elements. For our students, this means we will be able to continue to offer Field Studies, Outdoor School, enhanced Art and Technology Instruction.
Each year our schools must raise funds to cover our operating expenses. We are responsible for our own building and maintenance, human resource programs and auxiliary services. Because we are charter schools, Mosier Schools operates on just 83% of the per-pupil funding that is received by the other schools in our district. In order to keep costs down, we rely heavily on volunteers, fundraising and donations. These donations come from individual donors, parents, alumni, community members and families who not only appreciate, but also value the educational experience children receive at Mosier Schools.
Help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 to educate our students!
